Who else remembers this song from 1996? If you don’t, I suggest you listen to the music video before reading the blog.
So, I am sure you are wondering how I am going to use this song and relate it to running. When this song came across me a few weeks ago, I realized this is how I have been feeling about my running! I used to know exactly what race(s) I was training for and my goals. So basically, I knew what to anticipate in the future and which way the wind was blowing.
Then life flipped all over the place and my running went in a different direction. Now don’t get me wrong I still LOVE running, but I don’t have any long-term running goals set other than I still want to keep running.
One of the biggest positive changes that has happened is being more in the moment of my run. I used to worry about distance, pace and if I can run a negative split. Now I take in the scenery more and think about all the positives of my day. Try it! It helps you have a happy run.
So, if you don’t have any races in the future you can still have your runs mean something to you! I suggest you think about what are some running inspirations you have in your life. Running is a fun adventure whether you are training for a race or not.
