We all compare ourselves to others, especially when we are running for multiple reasons. So, how do you deal with this? If you go down the road of playing the comparison game, it will make your run worse!
Here are some tips that I use when I feel this way.
Deep breathes! Do this a few times.
Remind yourself why you love running! We all have OUR story of how we got into running and why we run.
Pick 1 thing you are grateful for on your run. Even if it is something small.
Think of 3 ways you have grown from your running.
Your running pace does not define your running.
Remember yourself how you felt after a great race or when you ran with someone else.
I hope some of these work for you. Don’t waste your time or energy on your run comparing yourself because it will never make you happy. You are extraordinary. Be proud about yourself!
